Session 1 - Cultivating IT Leadership from Within: Associate Directors Program at Reed College

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Over the last five years, Reed College has added Associate Director positions to each of its five IT departments. The Associate Directors have expanded responsibilities such as participating in the IT leadership team, representing IT within and outside the college, assisting with budgetary planning, and serving as the Director when he/she is away on or on leave. Overall, this has many benefits including increased productivity, better communication, knowledge-sharing, and professional growth opportunities. Most importantly, it has lead to seamless operations during a transition period when the Director has stepped down or been on extended leave. We will share what we have learned throughout the process, the budget implications of implementing such a structure, and the ups and downs of our experiences.
